From Phoenix to Charlotte – The Firestorm Team Speaks Across the Country
Disaster Recovery Journal 2018 Fall World
The Disaster Recovery Journal (DRJ) Fall World hosted their 59th Conference this year in Phoenix, Arizona. Firestorm presented two sessions and was one of 80 exhibitors in the exhibition hall. Firestorm EVP of People Solutions and Program Analytics, Cheyene Marling, presented a session entitled, What are the Most Mature BCM Programs Doing to Gain Executive Attention? Her presentation assessed the differentiating factors between the “very mature” programs and the “very immature programs.”
Throughout the conference, attendees met our Senior Leadership team at the Firestorm booth and discussed all things crisis and risk. While working the booth, Cheyene and VP of Firestorm People Solutions, Alicia Stevens, met various professionals whose expertise span the crisis and risk industry.
“It was another terrific DRJ conference! We had an opportunity to catch up with good friends and meet new professionals,” stated Cheyene. “There were so many wonderful discussions on BCM program maturity, advancing programs with program analytics and assisting with staffing needs. We always appreciate the opportunity to collaborate in person.”
After another successful DRJ Conference, we are looking forward to the upcoming 2019 DRJ Spring World in Orlando, Florida. The conference, themed Managing Risk in an Uncertain World, will be held from March 24-27th at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. Registration is now open.
Carolinas Communication Association Annual Conference
Last week Firestorm was represented at the Carolinas Communication Association Annual Conference. Firestorm Content Marketing Manager, Candace Kaiser, traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina to present two sessions. Invited by her college professors from Ohio Northern University, Candace sat on two panels during the conference. The first session, Paying it Forward: Using your Alumni to Accelerate your Program, reviewed how relationships created at ONU between faculty and students continue when the students become alumni. Candace has maintained a working relationship with her college professors, including Dr. Kathie Fleck who frequently submits guest articles and thought-leadership to Firestorm.
The second panel covered crisis communication and was entitled: Crisis Risk and Reputation Management: How Today’s Environment Accelerates Communication.
During the session, Candace spoke on the Firestorm Predict.Plan.Perform.® methodology, OFF (Outrage, Fault and Fear) and predictive intelligence.
“I thoroughly enjoyed presenting at this years’ CCA Conference in Charlotte. In addition to presenting with my former professors and classmates, it was great to speak on the expertise and work of Firestorm and our leadership team. The sessions were interactive, and attendees were engaged and asked thought-provoking crisis communication questions.” – Candace Kaiser, Firestorm Content Marketing Manager
Candace presented with two former professors and two classmates. Attendees of the sessions were primarily college professors and communications students seeking their master’s degrees.
The Carolinas Communication Association promotes the study of communication in the Carolinas and across the region. Learn more about the CCA here.
