From the Good Idea department:  For businesses trying to recover from a natural disaster or other crisis, basic communications are critical for continuity of operations.

Apex Freight Services has deployed its new Emergency Response Mobile Logistics Unit to support businesses affected by disaster, such as in Hurricane Isaac. Apex has equipped a 40 foot travel trailer with a generator, laptop computers and wireless internet capabilities that will enable the third-party logistics company to duplicate their clients’ operations from any remote location and ensure continuity of service.

This Mobile Logistics Unit is also available to any local, state or federal agency in need of operational assistance and the Apex team has experience working with clients in many different industries, from food processing to oilfield services.

“The complications that result from widespread power outages are particularly difficult for truck fleets, which rely on dispatch communication to operate efficiently. Our full-service Mobile Logistics Center will offset these challenges by allowing operations to continue without interruption,” explains Tracy Pellerin, CEO.

In addition to maintaining their own dispatch and operational capacity, Apex can also provide this valuable assistance to other entities involved in disaster response, including federal and state agencies and local government.

The vehicle is currently positioned in Beaumont, Texas.  The unit can be relocated at a moment’s notice as circumstances change. Pellerin, along with several Apex employees, have volunteered to operate the unit as long as it is needed.

Apex Freight Services has also been named One of Nation’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies by Inc., and by ABiz. Providing this type of innovative service is one of the reasons why.  Check them out at apexfrt.com
