Firestorm® and partnering industry leaders to lead virtual, cyber-breach crisis exercises
ATLANTA, Ga., November 6, 2015: In celebration of its 10th anniversary, crisis management leader Firestorm is hosting two, no-fee, cyber-crisis response virtual simulation exercises—the first of their kind in the crisis management industry—on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2 p.m. EST, or Monday, Dec. 14, 2 p.m. EST. The events will be led by Firestorm and include insurance, technology and legal expert panelists from JLT Specialty USA, MIR3 and Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP.
Every business faces escalating cyber-risk. A cyber-breach is a business crisis, not an IT crisis. There are two choices: wait for a cyber-crisis or test plans before a crisis. Boards see this business crisis–risk™ exposure as more than compliance.
These groundbreaking, 90-minute interactive exercises, designed for businesses of all types, will stress- test senior leadership team response in a simulated cyber-crisis. The panel of experts will guide participants through a series of escalation events, with participants applying their own crisis management and cyber-breach response plans to each stage. The sessions will include a discussion of how their insurance responds to the cyber-crisis and will conclude with a “hot wash” and benchmark analysis of actions taken. The sessions are specifically designed to empower participants to improve their cyber-crisis plans.
“With so much at risk in a cyber-crisis, businesses cannot afford to wait to develop and test response plans. These exercises are a great way to test those plans in a safe, controlled environment that realistically recreates the kind of events and impacts we see every day,” says Firestorm President and COO Jim Satterfield. “With customized cyber breach simulations costing in the tens of thousands and up, Firestorm is providing these no-fee exercises to thank our clients for ten tremendous years in delivering crisis management services. With hundreds of Firestorm clients already scheduled to participate, Firestorm has now extended this unique opportunity to all businesses.”

In the newest must-read Crisis Management Guidebook, from PRNews, top crisis experts provide businesses and organizations with guidance on issues ranging from research tips to social media tactics to having an effective crisis plan.
Firestorm Co-founder, Suzy Loughlin has seen far too many businesses fail after a crisis. This sparked her interest in writing her contribution to the guidebook: “Can Your Business Survive a Crisis?”
Ms. Loughlin explains: “It is Firestorm’s experience, gained through the response and management of many crises, as well as the designing of numerous crisis management programs, that a mature program should align with best practices across at least five dimensions: Strategy, Policy & Program Framework, Plans, Decision Process, and Communication.
Companies want to measure these dimensions against ‘stages of maturity’ and determine where their program falls. In the model Firestorm works with, the stages of maturity range from complete ‘surprise’ in the face of a crisis, to resiliency being ‘strategic’ and a part of your company’s day-to-day culture. In her article, Suzy discusses….More
