Forensic Assessment and Screening
Dr. Michael DiTomasso is a graduate of the University of Miami where he obtained a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. He interned at Bay View Community Mental Health Center. He did residencies at the Dade County Juvenile Court Assessment Center and at PsychSolutions in Miami where he was mentored by Dr. Scott Roseman, a noted expert in child and family issues.
Evaluation and Testing are Dr. DiTomasso’s specialty, and he applies this expertise in education and IQ testing, divorce and custody cases, abuse and neglect, criminal cases, and immigration issues. He also teaches at the University of Miami and has taught at Florida Atlantic University.
He has been associated with the Forensic Assessment and Screening Team within Juvenile Court, specializing in the clinical and forensic evaluation of children and their parents in cases involving sexual and physical abuse, neglect, domestic violence, and systemic family pathology. He has been recognized by various courts as an expert in the areas of Child Abuse and Neglect, Domestic Violence, and Family Functioning and has also worked on a number of murder and attempted murder cases, property crimes, drug crimes, crimes of violence, domestic violence cases and other felony and misdemeanor cases, and on many cases involving sexual offenses.
Dr. DiTomaasso has conducted many competency evaluations and clinical evaluations on the psychiatric unit of the Dade County Pre-Trial Detention Center and is expert in recognition, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment planning for persons suffering major mental diseases such as schizophrenia and bipolar spectrum disorders, and on the relationship between major mental disease and criminal conduct.
