SUMMARY:Predictive Insights – Looking for Clues in Advance of the Next Active Shooting Event
DESCRIPTION:It’s important for crisis professionals to not only think through their most immediate use case but to be predictive where possible about future needs. Organizations achieve this goal through the analysis of the organization’s overall growth strategy. \nIn a crisis\, through the combination of leveraging technology\, tools\, expertise of analytics\, and identifying behaviors of concern\, we can respond to the crisis while keeping the organization’s goal of resiliency in mind; we not only aid in critical decision support in times of crisis\, we may be able to foretell and prevent a crisis altogether. The answer to keeping our employees and others safe lies in preventing a deadly event from occurring. It is the job of every responsible leader to try and prevent acts of violence. \nIn this half hour or 45-minute webinar\, Ann Pickren\, President of OnSolve (the market leader in delivering critical notifications and alerts) and Jim Satterfield\, CEO of Firestorm (America’s Crisis Coach)\, will discuss how you can work toward eliminating crisis surprise\, disaster denial\, and self-deception by using technology and analysis to identify potential violent issues before they evolve into crisis. \nYou must register via this link

SUMMARY:Firestorm Presents - Creating a Crisis Communication Roadmap (Business-Focused)
DESCRIPTION:All organizations are vulnerable to crises. Crises\, however\, are not always unavoidable. Mapping how to communicate to stakeholders after a tragedy or incident cannot be overlooked. \nA key step in effective crisis communications planning is to develop clear and concise messages that address questions and concerns. In this webinar\, they will discuss how to develop and deploy a series of message maps when your organization suffers a crisis. SUMMARY:Firestorm Presents: ‘Something’ is not enough – Prevent Violence from Entering Your Doors (For Business)
DESCRIPTION:We all want to stop workplace violence – but how? \nThe key to change is implementing a process for identifying those on a path to violence and intervention before the weapon arrives. \nThe workplace violence solution is behavior. The solution can be found in understanding behavior\, not adding modalities to limit casualties. When asked\, every organization states\, “we have something.” Something is not enough. Looking at banning certain types of firearms or active shooter training is something — if properly implemented\, that may reduce the number of deaths —but is not a total solution. \nWe must respond when behavioral warning signs first arise before the violent act occurs. Without this change\, we will continue to see more violence and loss of life in our workplaces. No one wants to call a family and share that their loved one is not coming home today. \nJoin Firestorm leadership in this 45-minute webinar as we discuss the 9-element formula to prevent incidents of violence in our workplaces. SUMMARY:Jim Satterfield to Speak at Southeast Franchise Forum Breakfast
DESCRIPTION:Firestorm CEO\, Jim Satterfield\, was selected to speak at the June Southeast Franchise Forum breakfast meeting. Professionals will meet on June 12th at 7:30 a.m. at Maggiano’s restaurant in Atlanta. \nTopic: Don’t Make Your Next Crisis Your Last Stand \nTopic Synopsis: The presentation will share lessons learned from multiple crisis events impacting franchise systems. \nFranchisors and franchisees must appreciate the potential brand and reputation impacts the crises and allegations have. In a crisis\, the DECISIONS you make\, the ACTIONS you take\, and the WORDS that you say will determine whether the crisis escalates or stabilizes impacting your franchise family. \nAll crises are not equal. Understanding a developing crisis and its public perspectives become the foundation to optimize crisis outcomes. How decisions are made in a crisis is critical to the outcome. Ensuring your crisis management leadership is aware of their roles and the need to make decisions based upon available information\, data. The crisis approach and policy leads developing contingency plans for actual and potential exposures and threats. \nBased on the extensive experience from responding to crisis events\, the Firestorm Crisis Index™ and the crisis management concept of using metrics based on the dimensions of OFF (OUTRAGE\, FAULT\, and FEAR) to evaluate crisis severity were developed and are in use today by multiple types of organizations. This focus is used to direct all DECISIONS\, ACTIONS and WORDS to address the most critical crisis dimensions. The REACH\, CONTEXT\, and ACCELERATION provide the urgency response framework. \nThe value of any communications must be weighed against the potential exposure or liability created by the communications. An effective crisis communications plan will empower the franchisor to establish the ‘Why’ of all communications. \nAbout the Southeast Franchise Forum \nSEFF was founded over twenty years ago with the mission of providing the franchise community with resources\, informative meetings and networking opportunities. Quarterly they host the International Franchise Association Franchise Business Network meeting\, which is open to all SEFF and IFA members. As a member organization\, SEFF is open to franchisors\, franchisees\, and a good balance of supplier members. Learn more about SEFF.

SUMMARY:Firestorm Presents: Why Would You Wait for the Weapon to Arrive? (Part 2 of 2) – Planning for and Responding to Violence (For Schools)
DESCRIPTION:A weapon. A crime scene. The loss of a loved one. \nWhat image appeared in your head? \nWorkplace. Violence. \nThese are two words you never want associated when referencing your school or campus. But they are connected too often with real world events. We’ve witnessed episodes of violence in schools\, universities\, churches\, factories\, office buildings and restaurants; no organization is immune. Are you prepared to respond to an incident of violence? \nLast month in part one of this two-part series\, Firestorm experts discussed BeRThA®\, a program that prevents a weapon from entering the door by identifying behaviors of concern before an incident of violence. \nBut what happens when violence does strike? You must act. Does your organization have a violence response program that incorporates a complete shut-down after an incidence of violence occurs? Incidences of mass violence\, even if unrelated to your specific location\, can close your campus for weeks. \nWhy are we waiting for the weapon to arrive? The time to plan is now – not when you have to make a call to someone stating their loved one will not be returning home. Let’s prevent and plan before violence. This month\, Firestorm Chief Security Officer and former Secret Service Agent\, Jason Russell\, will walk attendees through preparedness best practices and action steps to take when violence enters your door. \nJoin us and learn if you have created a safe and secure workplace environment – are you really prepared? \nYou must register via this link: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/6733309543080737795

SUMMARY:The University of Alabama and Firestorm Present: Prevention Before Escalation (Part 1 of 2) – Identifying Behaviors of Concern Before Violence
DESCRIPTION:If you had the opportunity to stop even one incident of self-harm or harm to others\, would you? Every day we witness increasing episodes of workplace or school violence; and following every incident we hear\, “there were warning signs.” \nOur ability to keep our employees\, customers\, visitors\, students and ourselves safe depends upon identifying potential behaviors of concern before they enter the building. \nMany organizations have implemented emergency response plans that address protocols to use for an active shooter\, e.g. lockdown. They have set up crisis teams to respond when a bad event has occurred. Although a robust emergency response plan requires these tactics\, they do not address the real problem— ‘how do we end the madness?” \nThe answer to keeping our employees and others safe lies in prevention. It is the job of every responsible leader to try and prevent acts of violence. \nCan this be done? It can be done through an organization’s implementation of a Behavioral Risk Threat Assessment Program – a program Firestorm calls BeRThA®. This month we discuss how to intercede before an act of violence occurs. Next month\, we will review how to respond when violence enters your organization. \nYou must register via this link: https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/4379923647766713346
