DESCRIPTION:Jim Satterfield\, Firestorm President/COO and Co-Founder will be presenting a session entitled\, Workplace Violence: How do you stop the madness?\, at this year’s CPAC (Contingency Planning Association of the Carolinas) Symposium. The event\, held in Concord\, North Carolina will focus on the theme of Maintaining Resilience in an Uncertain World and will be held from March 9-10.\n \nWorkplace Violence: How do you stop the madness? Session details: \nKnowing before the gun comes to work is a critical intelligence planning responsibility for every company. It should be the aim of every workplace to create a culture where safety from violence is a common goal of both employees and workplace leadership.  To achieve such a culture: \n\nWarning signs must be recognized and understood;\nEveryone must know how to report behaviors of concern;\nThere must be procedures in place to investigate when there are concerns; and\nTrained staff must know when and how to conduct a behavioral risk assessment.\n\nWhether workplace violence stems from a current or former employee\, an unknown assailant\, or an employee’s spouse\, many incidents are foreseeable and/or preventable. Too often\, management is untrained and ill-equipped to recognize a developing situation\, and therefore unable to take appropriate action. \n\nFirestorm Expert Council Member\, Dr. Robert Chandler will also present a session at the Symposium. His session\, The ‘Right Stuff’ for Crisis Management Leaders\, will be held on Thursday\, March 9 from 8:15-9:30 a.m.
