As per Sheriff’s Presser at 3:54 PM (next Presser at 3:00 MT): The shooter was a student who entered the school with a gun looking for a specific teacher. The teacher was informed of the threat and exited the school hoping to draw the shooter away from the school. The armed student then shot another student at Arapahoe High School in Colorado. As of 3:48 Eastern the wounded student was transported to the Hospital in critical condition.

The shooter is deceased, from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

One student sustained a minor injury, was not shot, and reportedly in good condition.

Police have not released the shooter’s identity and are in the process of family notification.

The Sheriff praised the response of emergency teams, school employees, teachers, officials and students. Teams responded within minutes, and Tactical officers entered school with full intent to “eliminate threat.”

It has been reported that a school maintenance worker watched the armed student run into the school “military-st

yle”, and got on a radio, notified the school and called 911.

A gunman opened fire at RyanParkerCOArapahoe High School in Colorado on Friday, sending hundreds of terrified students running to safety.

Students who fled the school said at least two students were shot by another student, but that could not immediately be confirmed.

A shopping center across the street was swarming with police cars and evacuated students.

A dispatcher with the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said Friday afternoon there has been a shooting at the school.

Students have been shown walking out of the High School in single file line with hands up as they are evacuated, a disturbing reminder of past active shooter incidents.

FBI and Colorado State Police en route to Arapahoe High School. 

Arapahoe High School has 2200 students.
