Publications

Firestorm produces a variety of publications with contributions from specialists of various disciplines, professions and industries. It is the breadth and depth of our human capital that distinguishes Firestorm’s publications.

Monitoring developing threats is an important cornerstone of any plan.

Firestorm provides relevant emerging trends in a timely newsletter, Disaster Due Diligence, focusing on business continuity and disaster preparedness. Disaster Due Diligence provides a weekly report based upon ongoing monitoring of thousands of news sources. Each reported item will contain a link, short summary and an analysis by a member of the Firestorm Expert Council. Expert Council members offer unique insights on current conditions and trends to enhance your preparedness planning.

It is possible that an organization’s workforce could be depleted by 40% or more at any given time during the H1N1 pandemic. The impact and recovery could last 18 to 24 months. The majority of steps needed to prepare for this risk are operational. Human Resource issues, such as how employers plan to address screening, monitoring, leave, absenteeism, and other processes and policies involving their workforce are critical, and have strategic implications.

Firestorm’s Human Resources Reference Guide is intended to assist organizations in Human Resource planning for a pandemic or communicable illness outbreak. Firestorm recognizes that organizations may need guidance in light of the current H1N1 Pandemic outbreak. We have created a document containing the highlights of the HR Reference Guide. One of the common failures in continuity planning for businesses is the failure to educate and train employees. An employee will not be available to work, if he/she is concerned about their family’s safety. Two of Firestorm’s principals, Harry Rhulen and James Satterfield have co-written a book titled, Disaster Ready People for a Disaster Ready America.

A key building block in designing a company’s Business Continuity Plan is ensuring that each employee has a disaster plan in place at home. Disaster Ready People for a Disaster Ready America   is divided into twelve chapters, ideally one for each month, so that by the end of one year, employees and their families will be disaster-ready.

Firestorm regularly publishes informational white papers to educate readers. The purpose of a white paper is to advocate that a certain position is the best solution for a particular problem. Firestorm specialists contribute unique perspectives evident in our white papers based upon their depth of industry knowledge.
