JAY N. ROSENBLATT

Jay Rosenblatt is a partner in the law firm SimpsonWigle LAW LLP, where he is engaged in a business law practice, counseling business owners, board members, senior management and municipalities in legal risk management and other business-related issues.

 

His Business Continuity & Emergency Preparedness guidance, preferably as a member of the in-house Emergency Management Team, includes analysis, identification, and assessment of legal vulnerabilities, and the implementation of required actions to manage and mitigate legal risks, especially related to business continuity and emergency preparedness.

 

Jay has recently been engaged in several projects with large and smaller corporations, dealing with the due diligence requirements and supply chain management risk. He has also addressed senior management regarding the personal and company legal liabilities resulting from a disaster and work interruption.

 

He has delivered numerous presentations at North American Disaster Management and Business Continuity Conferences on legal risk identification, management and mitigation and due diligence.

 

Jay is a member of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Centre for Emergency Preparedness, and his local Emergency Preparedness Advisory Committee (EPAC), and has recently been retained by a large International Pharmaceutical Company to provide support on Legal Risks and Pandemic Planning.

Legal Issues & Risks Related to Business/Emergency Preparedness & Pandemic Influenza for Hoffman La Roche, Legal Issues & Risks Related to Business/Emergency Preparedness for HSBC Bank Canada, EPICC Disaster Management Conference in British Columbia, the World Conference on Disaster Management (WCDM), Toronto, DRJ Conference in San Diego, the Canadian Institute’s Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Conference and the Ontario Association of Emergency Managers (OAEM) Workshop, Ontario Hospital Association, Organizational Resiliency Conference in Toronto, and was invited to present at IDRC, Davos, 2008.

 

Some of his past presentations were Continuity Planning Management 2005 Las Vegas, on Corporate Due Diligence and Risk Management for C-Level Executives and Directors, InfoSecurity Canada Conference, June, 2005 on Information Security Risk Management, a Regulatory Risk session for the York University, Schulich Executive Education Centre’s Operational Risk Management Course, 27th McMaster World Congress Conference, on Legal & Liability Issues: What the Board and C-Level Executives Need to Know.

He participated in a Pandemic Communications Advisory Panel – Risk Management Webinar hosted by 3N Online and Continuity Insights, and has delivered specific sessions on Business Continuity and Pandemic Influenza Planning for the Halton Region, and the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce entitled Pandemic Influenza Planning for Business Continuity.


His community involvements have includes Hamilton International Airport Community Advisory, Board of Directors for over 15 years with Hamilton Crime Stoppers of Hamilton, having served as its Chair for 2 years, Board of Directors, the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers, and Board of Directors, Malloch Foundation.  <<
