Gertie Knox - About Us

Gertie is a Principal at Firestorm, a recognized leader in crisis management, vulnerability analysis, risk mitigation and business continuity.

Gertie has substantial experience in the development of compliance frameworks on behalf of Fortune 100 companies, working with multinational companies to integrate supply chain related compliance protocols and advising small and medium size enterprises on the maintenance or elevation of their competitive profiles. Her work across a myriad of industry sectors, sizes and organizational cultures provides her with extensive insight into how any company can best avoid the five common business failures that are typically exposed during a crisis, disruption or disaster, and threaten an organization’s resiliency and overall value to stakeholders.

Firestorm’s work with major clients, which includes crisis management support at Virginia Tech, provides Gertie with excellent insights into the importance of preparedness. Leveraging experience and knowledge that spans a broad spectrum, Gertie understands the considerations an entity employs to build disaster ready people and disaster ready businesses as a part of its overall operations, financial and reputation risk management strategy. Clients benefit from Firestorm’s Predict. Plan. Perform.™ process that "keeps disruptions from becoming disasters."

Serving in previous capacities as a COO and co-founder of a privately-held global supply chain compliance and monitoring firm, global risk management services partner with a big four accounting and advisory services firm and compliance professional with a leading aerospace and defense sector entity positions Gertie to fully understand the challenges – and rewards – associated with establishing procedures, processes and controls that support an overall preparedness program. In addition, her work in every corner of the globe gives her a unique perspective on building an overall culture and program of preparedness across wide-ranging markets and environments.

Gertie has published articles on preventative compliance measures in leading industry publications and has spoken on panels on the same subject in business, industry, and academic forums.

She holds a Masters in Business Administration from Colorado State University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Memphis. She is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
