This article contends that a sizable cadre of civic-minded individuals is already present, and that academia’s focus must be to develop and promulgate new knowledge across the cross-section of new students and experienced professionals. This new knowledge must include practical skills applicable to the broad scope of emergency preparedness and should leverage educational technology in its delivery. Download the article
