Seminars and Training
Training and Testing of Plans
The success of any emergency plan depends upon its routine testing, audits and updates. Practicing the appropriate response assures that an organization can predictably perform in an actual emergency. By test exercising the plans and their procedures, the problems or weaknesses identified will stimulate the appropriate changes. Everyone has a role in a crisis. Some are strategic. Some are tactical. How decisions are made in a crisis is critical to the outcome.
Once the customized plans have been completed, Firestorm will design, script, conduct and manage an interactive tabletop test exercise, incorporating all aspects of the plan collectively. The training, in addition to making management and employees aware of their duties under the plan, should increase everyone's awareness of preparedness issues, resulting in decreased absenteeism from other health exposures. Testing will demonstrate areas where plans require modification. Review, testing and training will ensure long term viability.
Seminar Series
Firestorm's seminars, focusing on various aspects of preparedness and response, are one of our most frequently-requested services. Building upon a core presentation on the requirements necessary to a sound business continuity program, each seminar includes interactive exercises on a readiness topic specific to the audience's industry and preparedness needs. Firestorm has conducted seminars for public and private corporations, associations and government agencies. "Lessons Learned," based on Firestorm's crisis management support provided to Virginia Tech in the immediate aftermath of the 2007 campus shootings, has been widely praised and is often requested. Other popular seminars have focused on pandemic preparedness for local governments, challenges specific to human resources in disaster preparedness and response, and industrial sabotage against publicly-traded corporations.
