Twitter Updates will no Longer Post to LinkedIn

For those of you who ended your Tweets with the hashtags #li or #in in order to cross-post them to your LinkedIn profile, this will no longer be an option.

From LinkedIn 06/29/2012:

"TwitterTwitter recently evolved its strategy and this will result in a change to the way Tweets appear in all third-party applications. As of June 29, 2012, Tweets will no longer be displayed on LinkedIn."

"We know that sharing updates from LinkedIn to Twitter is a valuable service for our members, so you will still be able to share updates with your Twitter audience by posting them on LinkedIn. Simply compose your update on LinkedIn, check the box with the Twitter icon, and click "Share." This will automatically push your update to both your LinkedIn connections and your Twitter followers."

There are several ways to share content with your professional network on LinkedIn:

From your home page or profile.

You can use the posting module near your photo towards the top of the page.

  1. Click into the text box and type in your remark.
    • Limited to 600 characters maximum.
    • If you choose to update your Twitter status too, only the first 140 characters will be visible on Twitter.
  2. Click Attach a link to add your URL and then click Attach(optional). Allow a few seconds for a description to automatically display.
    • Click the Edit link to modify the title and description.
  3. Select an option under visible to:
    • Pick anyone to show updates to everyone looking at your profile and send updates to your connections. (This is the default setting.)
    • Pick connections only to be visible only to your connections looking at your profile and to send updates to your connections.
  4. Check the box next to the Twitter icon to update your Twitter status with the same information (optional).
  5. Click Share.
    • Some posting modules also allow you to share with groups or individuals.

An update will remain visible at the top of your Profile and in your Activity module until it is replaced by a more recent update or until you delete it. You can select who can see your Activity Feed, which shows your recent updates in the right panel of your profile.

From Discussions in your groups.
  1. Start a discussion.
  2. Complete the posting module options.
  3. Click Share.
From partner sites like Wall Street Journal or New York Times.
  1. Click the LinkedIn icon and complete the posting module options.
  2. Click Share.
